New Chapter

So I did a thing, lol. I surprised pretty much everyone I know when I revealed that I had decided to join the Army National Guard. My reasoning is sound. First and foremost they’re going to be huge help with paying for school and I know furthering my education is definitely something I want to do moving forward. Second, it’s another aren for me to flex all the gifts that I’ve been blessed with. Because of the college credits I’ve racked up, I’ll be enlisting as an E3 (Private First Class) which will most likely boost me to a few leadership positions during my training. I qualified for the 35M MOS (Military Occupational Specialty) which in regular terms is a Human Intelligence Collector. This qualifies me for future positions in intelligence, business management, and even the CIA. I scored really high on the ASVAB, which is the entrance exam that everyone seeking to join the military must take and as of now, I am the only person in the state in the past year to take and pass the DLAB (Defense Aptitude Battery Test). The DLAB is quite easily one of the hardest, weirdest, most ridiculous test i’ve ever taken and its aim is to gauge one’s ability to learn a foreign language fluently, among other concepts. I couldn’t explain it to you even if I tried. And even if I could, I’d be facing jail time or a possible $10,000 fine (that’s literally one of the first things it tells you before you take the exam, lol). Since the Guard is part time, I will be returning to Baton Rouge in the summer in time to finish my last semester of school and graduate in the fall. I can’t wait to leave and I’m really looking forward to the experience!
