I got the rare opportunity the other day to film a cicada emerging from it's nymph form. The nymph stage of its life cycle can last from 3-5 years, some species lasting up to 17. After shedding its brown, dry skin, or exuviae, they emerge nearly colorless leaving the skin behind which we often see left on tree trunks or even walls and fences. I took this photo after I let him fully emerge and placed him on the tree in my front yard. It reminds me a lot of the changes even we humans face. We are born and sometimes we fall and end up "burried" and overwhelmed with life, but remember you can always bounce back bigger, stronger, and more beautiful than ever before.
